About Me

about me_website_2-1.jpg

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a contemporary photographer who seeks to highlight self discovery and introspection through symbolism and established societal truths. My photos explore the concept of evolving through life by representing the mind, soul, and body. I enjoy investing in concepts of balance and juxtapositions, but often express ideas through representations of sheet ghosts. Obscuring the identity allows the viewer to embody the form, creating possibilities for personal narratives. By allowing ideas to form intuitively and experimenting with chance, I am able to produce visual outcomes that explore the value of perception. My goal is to communicate self discovery by neutralizing a concept of the self, which invites questions to emerge. My work follows in the footsteps of surrealism and conceptual art, while also cultivating inspiration from ancient mythologies and traditional view points. Carl Jungian theories ignite the concepts used in my work to explore the depths of the human psyche.
